Ted Greves - City Council Candidate

I am a retired professional firefighter seeking another term on Council so I can among other things continue his work to improve the city protective services. Specifically I am focussing on the Ten-Year Fire Plan. I also want to improve policing services while keeping property taxes to an acceptable level.

In the short term, after I was elected in the 2011 Byelection and then the 2011 General Election, I have debated and voted on a large number of very important issues that affect the Nanaimo.
The first was my full support of the placement of Supportive Housing in various parts of the city, supporting the building of the Water Treatment Plant that was mandated by the Province and lately the debate on the Colliery Dam remediation also mandated by the Province.

I am very proud of being involved with the development of the first-ever 2012-2015 Corporate Strategic Plan which will set the course for the city for years to come. I am also very proud of my participation in the Transportation Advisory Committee which over two years resulted in the development of the Transportation Master Plan and the acquisition of the Linley Valley Park which is the last large green space in Nanaimo which will remain forever.

I look forward to continue as Chair of the Governance Review Steering Committee and Chair of the Recreation Committee and last but, most important, work on the Protocol Agreement Working Group in discussions with the Snuneymuxw First Nation on our need for further water capacity for the City.
