I have a common sense business attitude and feel that my past varied experiences in our community qualify me as a good candidate for City Council. I believe in a strong business economy that is supported by a business friendly attitude and for that we need a Council that shows good teamwork and works together. Why a strong business environment? I have learned over the years that our social issues, environmental concerns and arts and culture all need funding. This lands on the door step of the business community. Some of us do the work and some of us fund the work. Working together in co-operation has accomplished so much and we can build upon that. I am not about what has happened, but what is going to happen. I commit to being accessible, accountable and a team player.I am a member of the City of Nanaimo's Advisory Planning Committee, Development Review Process Committee, a past member of Plan Nanaimo Committee and the Growth Management Strategy Committee for the RDN. I have more than 40 years banking experience and have been active with the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce., I have been a volunteer for many social, arts and culture boards, notably TheatreOne and Literacy Nanaimo.
I have been a Minor Baseball Umpire for many years, coached Minor Football and have been involved with the VI Raiders Football Team. I came to Nanaimo in 1989 and have been married to Dawne for 15 years. We have 4 grown children and live in South Nanaimo. I can also be seen volunteering with The Salvation Army, as Dawne keeps me busy.
I have worked for Coastal Community Credit Union as a Business Relationship Manager for the past 13+ years in Commercial Lending.
My phone number is 250-753-0249.
